Hosting
The site and its database are operated by two separate technical providers, both in France:
- The site — the pages and the server functions — is hosted by Vercel, in region
cdg1(Paris, France). - The database, authentication and photo storage are hosted by Supabase, on Amazon Web Services infrastructure located in region
eu-west-3(Paris, France).
Personal data is stored in the European Union. The detail of what each provider hosts, and what happens to static files, is on section 12 of the Privacy page.
Legal name, registered address and phone number of each host
To be taken from the contracts signed with Vercel and Supabase.
Purpose of the service
Wourou is the public portal of the Ivorian national dog project. It lets a guardian register their dog, print a tag carrying a QR code, find that code's scans in their space, publish a search notice if the dog is lost, and browse directories of dog-related professionals and places. The service also offers a health-tracking record: certified or declared acts, vaccination dates, weigh-ins, read permissions and a log of third-party consultations.
The service is free for dog owners. No payment goes through the site: any amounts owed to a veterinarian or a provider are settled directly between the parties, outside the platform.
What the service doesn't do is described on the About page: no diagnosis, no complete medical file, no automatic vaccination reminder, no electronic tag, no shop.
User-published content
Dog profiles, photos, reviews of places and providers, place submissions and provider profiles are published by their authors, who remain responsible for them. They keep their rights over what they publish and authorize its display as part of the service.
Two safeguards exist and function:
- Places submitted by the community are reviewed before publication: a submitted place doesn't appear until it has been approved.
- Veterinarians are verified by hand before appearing in the directory; provider profiles are reviewed before being published.
Inaccurate, misleading or inappropriate content can be reported: the process is described on the Contact page.
Map data and open sources
The map background and some of the listed places come from OpenStreetMap, a map built by volunteer contributors.
- Map background — tiles served by OpenStreetMap. © OpenStreetMap contributors.
- Veterinary establishments — some of the clinics shown come from an OpenStreetMap survey of health establishments in Côte d'Ivoire. This data is made available under the ODbL 1.0 license.
These places are not verified by us
An establishment sourced from collaborative mapping existed at the time of the survey: nothing guarantees it is still open, or that it accepts pets. We keep the OpenStreetMap identifier of every imported place to allow cross-checking, and any error can be reported from the Contact page.
Trademarks, text and site code
The name "Wourou", the visual identity, the presentation text and the site's code are the property of its publisher, subject to third-party components used, which remain under their respective licenses.
Limits of liability
It's more useful to say what the service doesn't guarantee:
- The platform doesn't guarantee that a lost dog will be found. It increases the chances that someone can contact you or leave a report; it replaces neither on-the-ground searching nor word of mouth.
- A scan depends on the phone of the person doing it: their network, their browser, and whether they accept sharing their location. An entry may therefore be recorded without a location, or not at all if the code is unreadable or the tag is lost.
- A veterinarian's verification concerns their listing, not the procedures they perform. The platform is no substitute for veterinary advice — in an emergency, call a clinic directly.
- Information about places and providers — hours, rates, whether dogs are accepted — comes from their authors and may have changed. A call before traveling remains the best check.
- The service may be interrupted for maintenance or a technical provider's outage.
Personal data and cookies
What is recorded, who can see it, how long it's kept and how to have it deleted: all of this is described on the Privacy page.
In short: the only cookies set keep you signed in, no advertising tracker is used, and visitors' IP addresses are never kept in the clear.
Scope of this page
This page is incomplete, and says so: the publisher, publication-director and hosting notices remain to be published. What appears here describes how the service actually works.
It does not claim the service complies with any regulation and cites no legal text: those checks have not been carried out.
