Terms of use
The rules that apply when you use Wourou, on the website or in the app.
Key points
- Wourou is not an emergency service. If your dog is in danger, call a veterinary clinic directly.
- Only a verified veterinarian certifies an act in the health record. You can declare some care, never certify it.
- The main holder's number is shown to the public only during a lost-dog alert, and only if showing it has been chosen.
- You are responsible for what you publish. Abusive content may be removed and its author suspended.
- You can delete your account yourself, unless it is a professional or suspended account: it is then closed on request. Health acts stay attached to the dog, without your contact details.
Purpose and publisher
These terms govern the use of the wourou.ci website and the Wourou app. They apply to anyone who uses them, with or without an account.
The identity of Wourou's publisher has not been published yet; it will appear in the legal notice.
Creating an account means you accept these terms.
Your account
Your account is personal. By creating it, you agree to:
- give accurate information: your name, an email address you check and, if you provide one, a phone number that is yours;
- open only one account, and not lend it;
- keep your password secret, and change it if you think someone else has used it;
- register only dogs in your care.
A dog can be followed by several people: its main holder can add up to three co-holders. Some actions remain reserved to the main holder, such as opening or closing access to the health record, renewing the tag or removing a co-holder.
Minimum age to create an account
To be provided by the project owner.
What Wourou is, and what it is not
Wourou helps you identify your dog, keep its health record, find it if it gets lost, and find places and professionals. The service is free for owners. No payment goes through Wourou.
Wourou does not replace a veterinarian:
- it is not an emergency service: in an emergency, call a clinic directly;
- the health record gathers facts and their authors: it does not replace a consultation and does not say whether a protection is still valid;
- a certified act comes from a verified veterinarian linked to your dog: an in-clinic appointment, access you have granted, or your dog's stay in their facility;
- you certify nothing: you can declare a dewormer, an antiparasitic treatment or a weighing, which stay marked as declared.
A certified act cannot be changed or erased at your request. Only its author can correct it, and the correction stays visible. If you think an act is wrong, use "Contester cet acte" in the app or "Contester cet écrit" on the site (both are in French): your complaint goes to the veterinarian who signed it. It is not shown to other readers of the health record, except the registry administrator.
You and your co-holders read the full health record, and you decide which veterinarian can read it; the registry administrator can also read it. Access granted to a veterinarian is dated and can be withdrawn at any time. It also ends as soon as that veterinarian is no longer verified.
Tag and public profile
Each registered dog receives a unique link, to print as a QR code and attach to the collar. Anyone who scans it sees, without an account, the dog's name, photo, breed and temperament.
If you have turned it on, they also see the emergency information you declared: allergies, current treatment, usual veterinarian. This information comes from you, not from the health record.
They never see your address or your email. At each scan, you are notified in Wourou, with the location if the person agrees to share it.
If a printed QR code is out of your control, renew the tag: the old code stops working.
Lost and found
Reporting a loss creates a public missing-dog notice, to share: the dog's photo and description, date, last known location, search radius, your message and, where relevant, a mention of a reward.
The location you enter becomes public. Prefer a nearby landmark to your home address.
By default, no number is shown. The person who sees your dog leaves a report, you are notified, and you contact them back if they left their details. The main holder or a co-holder can choose to show the main holder's number. Removing it later erases it from the page, not from posters already printed or from screenshots.
Closing the alert closes the missing-dog notice. A reward commits the person who offers it: Wourou does not pay it and does not guarantee it.
Anyone who has seen or found a dog can report it, without an account. The report is not public: it goes to the dog's guardian. It must be honest, and repeated submissions are limited.
What you publish
You can publish your dog's profile and photos, the message of a missing-dog notice, a rated review of a place, a review of a provider after a completed service, a place suggestion or a report of a dog seen. You are responsible for them.
What you publish must be accurate and respectful. The following are forbidden:
- insults, threats, hateful or discriminatory remarks, and harassment;
- sexual or violent content, and images of mistreated animals;
- another person's name, number, address or image without their consent;
- fake reviews, including about your own business or a competitor's;
- advertising, and any content you do not hold the rights to.
You remain the owner of your content. You allow Wourou to display it free of charge, as part of the service, for as long as it stays published.
Before publishing a photo, Wourou removes its hidden information, including where it was taken. A suggested place is published only after review by our team. A review appears immediately, under its author's responsibility; you can edit or delete your review of a place from its page.
Reporting content, and what we do about it
To report content that breaks these terms, you will need to write to us, stating the page concerned and the reason: our contact details will be published on the Contact page. An error in a health record act is reported from the act itself.
When content breaks these terms, we may:
- remove it, without notice if it harms a person or an animal;
- suspend its author's account: a suspended account can no longer publish or edit anything;
- refuse a suggested place, or withdraw a professional's validation.
Professionals
A veterinarian appears in Wourou only after our team has verified their profile. A provider profile is reviewed before it is published.
This verification concerns their listing, not the quality of their care or services. Prices, opening hours and availability are published by the professionals themselves and may have changed.
What you agree with a professional is decided between you. They alone are responsible for their work, and you pay them directly.
Some places come from open sources, such as OpenStreetMap, and are not verified by us.
Appointments
You can request an appointment with a veterinarian in the time slots they publish. The request stays pending until they confirm it. You can cancel it from Wourou; let the veterinarian know if you cannot come.
An in-clinic appointment, even while still awaiting confirmation, allows the veterinarian to record acts in the health record during the thirty days before and after its date. It does not open the record's history to them: that access is yours to grant.
Wourou passes on the request. It does not guarantee that the appointment will take place.
What is forbidden
When using Wourou, you agree not to:
- use another person's account, or pretend to be someone else, in particular a professional;
- report a false loss or a false sighting;
- try to read or change data not meant for you, or to bypass a protection of the service;
- extract data in bulk, or disrupt the service;
- use contact details obtained through Wourou for any purpose other than the one for which they were given to you.
Account deletion and suspension
You can delete your account yourself: in the app (account icon at the top of the screen, then "Supprimer mon compte", as the app is in French) or on the Delete my account page. It is immediate and permanent.
Your contact details, reviews and notifications are erased. An active or lost dog followed with a co-holder is handed over to them. Otherwise, a dog with no record (no act, prescription, stay, programme, verified identification or attended appointment) is deleted, with its photos and tag; other dogs stay in the registry, archived, without your contact details.
Health acts are kept, attached to the animal and without your contact details: an act signed by a veterinarian is never erased. Weighings stay with the dog if it is kept or handed over, and are erased if it is deleted. The details are on the deletion page.
A professional account is closed on request, made from the Delete my account page and handled by our team. A suspended account cannot delete itself: its deletion is requested from our team, whose contact details will be published on the Contact page.
We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, or that puts a person or an animal in danger.
Liability
It is more useful to say what Wourou does not guarantee:
- the service may be interrupted, for maintenance or a technical provider's outage: no continuous availability is guaranteed;
- Wourou does not guarantee that a lost dog will be found: it helps you be notified and spread a search;
- a scan depends on the phone of the person scanning, their network and their consent to share their location;
- information published by users and professionals commits its authors;
- Wourou is not a party to exchanges between users, or between you and a professional.
These limits do not apply where the law forbids relying on them.
Personal data
What is recorded, who can see it and how to have it erased is described on the Privacy page. Wourou does not sell your data and uses no advertising tracker.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms, for example when the service evolves. The version in force is the one published on this page, on the date shown at the bottom.
If you do not accept a new version, you can delete your account, under the terms of the "Account deletion and suspension" section.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Ivorian law. In case of disagreement, write to us first: we will look for an amicable solution.
Competent court
To be provided after legal advice.
